The bands quest of “Louisiana Sunshine” is to bring rays of hope to the people and way of life in Southeast Louisiana and to enlighten the rest of the world on ways they can get involved to help.
The title track was written by the late Rusty Kershaw and Cyril Neville and paints an unforgettable lyrical portrait of all the many natural reasons Louisiana 's Coastal Erosion problem is in dyer need of every US Citizens attention.
The record is filled with goodtime music such as the Cajun driven “We Make A Good Gumbo” or the Neville/Meterish “Bayou Breeze” that grooves and will leave you bouncing to the beat. Anders Osborne sings his own tune asking why have we let life get this far out of bounds with “Kiddin' Me.” Tab Benoit try's to get to the heart of everyone with “Heart Of Stone” and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux chants into African Tradition with his own “Golden Crown” and “Me Donkey Want Water.”
Throughout the entire record nothing is said so clear until Dr. John calls out to the top officials by stating “The President Gave Us His Word, Since Then Nothings been Heard, Saving The Wetlands In Iraq , I want my goddamn money back” to “dumb mistakes by the Army Corp, has already cost us have our shore” in "We Ain't Gonna Take It No More."
The 11 song “Louisiana Sunshine” CD is a powerful venture by the Voice of the Wetlands and the cream of the New Orleans 's musical crop. The band will be making their first appearance at the 2005 Voice Of The Wetlands Festival at the Southdown Plantation in Houma, Louisiana on October 1st. They ask that everyone come to show their support if only to state that a place that has given so much to the world is worth the effort to try our best to save what we haven't lost already.
