Tab Benoit wins 3 BEST OF THE BEAT awards from Offbeat Magazine

On Friday July 27th Offbeat Magazine readers and Tab Benoit’s fans were heard when Tab received three of the awards that he was nominated for at the 2012 BEST OF THE BEAT Awards.

The categories include “Best Blues Band”, “Best Blues CD” for his 2011 release “Medicine” and “Songwriter of the Year”. The Voice of the Wetlands organization also received the award for Best Festival Outside Of New Orleans.

When accepting his awards Tab expressed what an honor it is to receive these wins from the city and state where all American music was founded and even though it wasn’t his first the honor does not go unappreciated.

Your not hearing things, that is Tab Benoit’s SHELTER ME from Tab’s CD “POWER OF THE PONTCHARTRAIN” CD opening the Discovery Channel’s Reality TV show “SONS OF GUNS.” Since the debut of the TV Show “Shelter Me” has been at the top of the Itunes Blues single chart. The show’s premise centers around Red Jacket Firearms a company which is based in Baton Rouge, LA, that was founded by Will Hayden. Hayden, an ex-Marine, grew up with an extensive self education of warfare and firearms. Will has actually brought his daughter Stephanie Hayden on as a business partner and manager. Telarc/ Concord Music Group will release “Legacy Volume One” an Essential Tab Benoit CD in April 2012. The record will feature music from Benoit‘s Award Winning and Grammy Nominated recordings from through out his years with Telarc International. We are expecting that there will be some guest Artist and duets but we are working towards getting his best material on this project. If we wait too long then it will have to be a double record set so this is time to close the books as we head into a future of more great Benoit songs to come. Tab Benoit and Dash Rip Rock to Celebrate the music of Billy Joe Shaver

Tab Benoit and the Legendary Cow Punk band Dash Rip Rock hit Ouiski Bayou Studios in November to celebrate the music of Country Music Outlaw Legend Billy Joe Shaver with Tab Benoit on Pedal Steel Guitar and Waylon Thibodeaux on Fiddle. In the late 80′s Dash Rip Rock had become the premiere college punk band of the South and with Bill Davis at the wheel the DRR continued on to create more then a dozen records, play thousands of shows, and today DRR is planning their induction into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. The new record which is currently titled MOONSHINE AND INDIAN BLOOD is scheduled for an April 2012 release. Until then catch the band in Austin, TX at the 2012 SXSW Music Festival.
